Lampyridae is the fancy scientific name for fireflies. I grew up in California where all the firefly species have evolved away from their glowing relatives east of the Rockies and no longer have any light emitting organs. It wasn't until I moved to rural Ontario that I walked among them as they flashed their green glow and held one in my hand. Such wondrous little creatures. I keep my grass long and pesticide free and brave the mosquitoes just to have more of them around. In designing this colourway I wanted to capture that feeling of when your eyes adjust to the dark and the world turns an inky shade of green. And in that darkness a whole world of tiny dancing lights come alive. UV reactive dye is the closest I can come to recreating that magic all year round (and it's mosquito free haha).
