The Corriedale sheep breed was developed at the Corriedale Estate in South Island, New Zealand and is a cross-breed of Lincoln Longwool and Merino sheep. It's a favorite among handspinners for it's ease of drafting in worsted style. It is the perfect medium between softness and tooth, crimp but not too crimpy and a very comfortable staple length for many applications. It's one of the best wools for beginners on a spinning wheel, and makes a soft yet durable yarn.
